Description
WorldBridge Partners, a reputed Executive Search and Consultancy Company, has been retained to identify an outstanding individual for the Operations and Technical Director position for its Client Company in Sacramento, CA.
The Client
Our Client is a reputed manufacturer of animal and human sera and reagents for cell culture in some of the most respected cell culture facilities in the world. The Company is a leadership member of the International Serum Industry Association and is committed to operating under environmentally sound and sustainable business practices, strictly adhering to the highest standard of business ethics.
The company has been profitable for 25 years and well positioned for future growth, expecting to double its top line revenue over the next 5 years. It provides an excellent work environment where teamwork and family life balance are very important.
The Position
The Operations and Technical Director will report directly to the Founder/CEO and will play a leading role in developing and implementing the Company’s short term and long term plans, and manage all Operations and Technical activities. He/she will ensure that proper procedures are in place and efficiently implemented in Manufacturing, Information Technology, Quality Control, Quality Assurance, Inventory Control, Purchasing, and Receiving and Shipping, to achieve maximum profitability for the Company. This position is based out of Sacramento, CA.
Responsibilities
- Develop a thorough understanding of the business in order to be a key part of the Client’s Bio-Products’ management team.
- Supervise all department personnel (through effective hiring, training, performance review, and other Human Resource development processes), and work closely with Finance and Sales Department personnel.
- Manage production improvement and expansion projects.
- Prepare regular and special reports that highlight department performance, and complete analyses of that information versus plan, previous periods, and industry norms.
- Participate in the ongoing Annual Operating Plan and Strategic Plan processes.
- Complete monthly activity reports, quarterly priorities, and analyses of operations. Also make recommendations that will favorably impact performance.
- Complete all special projects as assigned
Compensation & Travel
Attractive compensation including six figure base, bonus, benefits and profit sharing. Company is open to supporting relocation. Minimal travel requirements.
The Candidate
The ideal candidate would be an individual with a track record of significant successes in the following areas:
- Benchmarking, evaluating, designing and monitoring strategic operations programs, systems and procedures based on best practices in the bio science and international serum industry.
- Significantly improving operational efficiency of the Company through cost control and product line expansions while maintaining quality commitments of the company.
- Providing thought leadership and quantifiable operations contributions enabling significant company growth. Experience in Start Ups and organizations that have scaled are a major plus.
Professional Competencies:
- Operations management experience in small to mid-sized Bio-science companies, having successful track record of evaluating, selecting and developing winning teams with demonstrated success in achieving the growth plans of the company.
- Domain knowledge of serum manufacturing/filtration and/or cell culture strongly preferred. Should be comfortable in giving oversight to product design, act as scientific guru to the customers and company sales force and have technical insight to issues faced by the bio-science researchers and cell culture product users.
- Exhibits high interpersonal and leadership skills. Ability to function in a collaborative and congenial environment, demonstrate high integrity, generate trust and build alliances with co-workers, management and customer community. Strong mentorship and enabling skills.
- Exhibits strong communication skills. Clear and professional communication style (both verbal and written) which can convey technical subjects in layman’s terms. Also effective in communicating at all levels – internally to employees, management and Board of Directors and externally to clients.
- Minimum of a Bachelors Degree in a scientific area required. Masters degree in Bio-Science preferred.
- Competitor experience, customer rolodex and fluency in Spanish preferred.
- Strong drive and career aspiration but not a compulsive job hopper.
