Sasco, one of the largest privately held electrical contractors in the country, which began in 1967, and is the best at what it does, has an immediate need for a President of Sacramento.  The President of Sacramento reports to the Overall CEO and will direct and manage all over head expenditures (non-job cost) for the entire company. This includes leading the Directors of Accounting, Administration, Legal, Safety, Audit, Bonding and Banking, as well as the CTO. It is summarized in R6 as a report to the Board, but has to have accountability and detail reporting behind it in all areas.


 


Planning, executing and re-planning are a way of life at Sasco. In fact, “Life at Sasco” is:                                 



  1. Know what is going on.

  2. Report it to others.

  3. Learn from your mistakes (#2 is the reporting system that needs to be developed).


The current CEO, also the founder, has job cost experience so was able to oversee everything. The Overhead has been separated from Job Costs so there are now four Presidents. This one we are now going to find for OH and the three others that we now have for the three regions of Sasco - - Southern California, Northern California and Northwest.


In order to  maintain who we are and where we are, we believe in hiring only the best (the top 10%), who are winners in their respective career fields. If you’re not good, don’t apply.


 



  • Applicants should have a strong general accounting, prior executive experience, and be substantially above average in natural intelligence.  This person has to have his own high standards, hold people accountable, be a leader, be driven to accomplish, a self-starter, who knows what he wants, who wants to cause and shape change, and who wants to make a difference.

  • Must require all to have a plan, develop reporting systems similarly used by job cost throughout, and bring OH up to the same level of performance that job cost is. This would require a low tolerance for failure.

  • The objective is to improve the OH part of the company through reports and thought processes, with the use of technology and systems.

  • Must have a healthy respect for the other operations of the business and the methodologies and the leaders that have helped make them successful.

  • This person must understand that to succeed in this position it is imperative that they require accountability, are a strong leader, good listener, questioner, and learner, and have excellent intelligence.

  • You will not know Sasco on day one, nor need to, to improve its job cost function. The OH has never been done right so learn the “outline” of the Sasco systems and meld it with your experience and go for it.  The rest will  take time and effort, lots of listening and questions. A bull in a china shop mentality will ensure failure.


 


PLEASE NOTE:  This is not a typical President position. Accountability is mandatory as it is throughout Sasco. Experience is necessary because we have been doing some sort of this for over 40 years. The leadership skills, experience, accountability requirements, “holding people’s feet to the fire” are extremely important, and something you bring with you. Many other things one might consider are of less importance to Sasco. We have considered the many options and have decided most are not for us. We beat our own drum and want you to be a part of that. 


 


We have looked to the outside for help before and have used retained search firms, contingency search firms, and many various ads. Nothing has worked for high level positions and we’re tired of wasting our time.
